John W. AMBERG, 81, died May 30, 2013, at his residence in Arvada, Colorado.
Originally from Quincy, Ill., the son of Rose and Ernie AMBERG, he graduated Notre Dame High School in 1949.
He attended Gem City Business College prior to enlisting in the US Air Force 1951 and was stationed in Korea.
He left the service in 1955, attending the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and was the first of his family to earn a baccalaureate degree in 1959, John's was in accounting.
He began working as an accountant with Price Waterhouse in New York City where he met his future wife, Sue Ann RAPP. They were married in February of 1960 and their first child, Mary Sue, was born in November of that year.
He earned his CPA in 1961 and they had 3 more children, John W II (Jack) 1962, Kathryn Rose, 1964 and Barbara Ann 1969.
The family lived in Fairfield from 1964 to 1973. Mr. AMBERG served as comptroller at Parsons College and was the last employee to lock the doors when the college closed.
He moved his family to Lakewood, Colorado in 1973 where he was the comptroller and CFO for a moving company.
He moved onto real estate gaining his commercial real estate license in 1988.
John had 5 grandchildren, Bridget Marie, Andrew John, Margaret Ann, Theresa Marie, and Michael John.
He is survived his children and grandchildren and his sister Jo McPHERSON of Quincy, IL and Earnest C. AMBERG of St Louis, MO.
He was interned a FT (sic - interred at Fort) Logan National Cemetery in Denver on June 9, 2013.
