Graveside services for Lloyd Gene BUERKENS, 55, 1801 Avenue A, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Evergreen cemetery, Fairfield.
The Rev. Wayne Bartruff, Fairfield, will officiate.
Mr. BUERKENS was found dead in his mobile home Thursday evening.
Mr. BUERKENS was born Dec. 11, 1917, at Albia.
He came to Fort Madison five years ago to work as a drive-in teller at the Fort Madison Bank & Trust Co.
Mr. BUERKENS never married. He was of the Methodist faith. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are six brothers, John of Anaheim, Calif., Barney and Max, both of Fairfield, Charles of Berkeley, Calif., Lee of Rockford, Ill., and Bobbie of Richmond, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Carl (Elizabeth) BONNETT, Libertyville, Iowa, and Mrs. Frank (Artie) LANE, Stockport; and seven nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. His parents were Charles Edward and Amelia Gertrude GAASS BUERKENS.
The body has been taken from the Barr Memorial Chapel here to the Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

FT. MADISON -- Graveside services for Lloyd Gene BUERKENS, 55, 1801 Ave. A., who was found dead in his home of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Evengreen (sic) cemetery, Fairfield, Rev. Wayne Bartruff.
BUERKENS was born Dec. 11, 1917, in Albia, Ia., the son of Charles and Amelia GAASS BUERKENS. He had lived in Ft. Madison five years, was a former employe of Ft. Madison Bank & Trust Co., a veteran of World War II, a member of American Legion, VFW and Masons, and was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving: Six brothers, John, Anaheim, Calif., Barney and Max, Fairfield, Charles, Berkeley, Calif., Lee, Rockford, Ill., and Bobbie, Richmond, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth BONNETT, Libertyville, Ia., and Mrs. Artie LANE, Stockport; and several nieces and nephews.
The body was taken from Barr Memorial chapel, Ft. Madison to Behner funeral home in Fairfield Friday.

Gene BUERKENS, 55, former Jefferson County resident was found dead Thursday night at his home in Fort Madison.
Authorities said BUERKENS took his own life earlier in the week. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. today in Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Bartruff officiating.
Arrangements were in charge of the Weston Behner Funeral Home.
BUERKENS had been employed at the Fort Madison Bank and Trust Co. for the past five years. He was born Dec. 11, 1917 in Monroe County, the son of Charles and Amelia GAASS BUERKENS.
BUERKENS resided on a farm in the Libertyville area for several years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.
Surviving are the following brothers and sisters: John, Anaheim, Calif.; Barney, Fairfield Route 3; Mrs. Carl BONNETT, Libertyville; Charles, Berkeley, Calif.; Lee, Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. Frank LANE, Stockport; Max, Fairfield Route 3; and Bobbie, Richmond, Calif.
He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.

IN THE MATTER OF THE ESTATE OF LLOYD GENE BUERKENS, Deceased.
TO ALL PERSONS INTERESTED IN THE ESTATE OF Lloyd Gene BUERKENS, Deceased:
You are hereby notified that on the 25th day of June, 1973, the Last Will and Testament of Lloyd Gene BUERKENS, deceased bearing date of the 31st day of August, 1960, was admitted to probate in the above named Court and that Barney BUERKENS was appointed executor of said estate.
Notice is further given that any action to set aside said Will must be brought in the District Court of said County within one year from the date of the second publication of his notice, or thereafter be forever barred.
Notice is further given that all persons indebted to said estate are requested to make immediate payment to the undersigned, and creditors having claims against said estate shall file them with the Clerk of the above named District Court, as provided by law, duly authenticated, for allowance; and unless so filed within six months from the second publication of this notice (unless otherwise allowed or paid) such claim shall thereafter be forever barred.
