Rites Saturday for E. BARKER

Edward BARKER, 77, 1009 W. Stone, died at 8:15 a.m. today at the Jefferson County Hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Kincaid officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

BARKER rites on Saturday

Services for Edward M. BARKER, 77, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Behner Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Kincaid will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. A memorial will be established.

BARKER had been a resident of Fairfield for 57 years before his death Thursday morning at the Jefferson County Hospital where he had been a patient for three weeks. He lived in the Troy Community before moving to Fairfield. He was employed as a supervisor at the Iowa Malleable Co. for 48 years before his retirement, and was a member of the Eagles Lodge (sic - Aerie/Club).

Edward M. BARKER was born Feb. 27, 1907, in Davis County. He was the son of Joseph and Ann Elizabeth GLOTTFELDER BARKER. His marriage to Etola POTTOROFF took place in October, 1934. He was married to Florence ADAMS Sept. 28, 1935. She survives.

In addition to his widow, BARKER is survived by a son and two daughters, Darrell BARKER, Dubuque; Carol AMRINE, Brighton, and Elizabeth BOWERS, Mt. Lebanon, Pa.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Other survivors include two brothers, Howard BARKER, Ottumwa, and Richard BARKER, Lakewood, Calif.; and four half-sisters, Verla NELSON, Ottuma (sp); Mildred DAUGHERTY, Cedar Rapids; Evelyn CARLSON, Bloomfield; and JoAnn MCLURG (sp), Bloomfield.

We wish to thank the Fairfield Clinic doctors and nursing staff at the Jefferson Co. Hospital, on both floors, for the good care they gave Edward. We also want to thank our relatives, friends and neighbors for food, cards and memorials and all the kindness shown to us at the time of the loss of our loved one.
