Sharon Kay STATER

Sharon Kay STATER, 76, of Fairfield, Iowa, passed on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Sunnybrook Living Care Center in Fairfield surrounded by her family.

Sharon was born in Mason City, Iowa on October 27th, 1936 to Hugh and Frances HUDGELL. They moved to Fairfield where she grew up and attended Fairfield schools. Sharon attended Parsons College where she majored in Elementary Education. There she met her husband Edwin STATER and they were married June 1st, 1957. Sharon became a grade school teacher in Fairfield and taught first grade at Washington Elementary for over 30 years.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, vacation bible school and was very active with the Presbyterian Women's organization. Sharon was also an officer of the HA chapter of PEO.

Sharon is survived by her husband Edwin; her three children, Kristin, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Julia, of Richland, Iowa and Steven, of O'Fallon, Illinois. Kristin is married to Marshall AINES and they have two sons, Matthew and Joshua. Julia is married to Todd FULTON and has two children, Jennifer, married to Ned SCHLEMMER, and Mitchell, with his significant other Shelbie OLLOM. Steven is married to Christine STATER and has three children, Nicholas, Katherine and Elizabeth. Sharon also has two great grandchildren, Grant and Hayden.

She was preceeded (sic) in death by her parents.

According to her wishes, her body has been cremated.

Visitation for Sharon will be at 5 to 8 pm, Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, Iowa. Services with the Rev, (sic) Joseph Phipps officiating will be at the First Presbyterian Church at 10 am, Monday, May 6, 2013 in Fairfield, Iowa. Burial of cremains will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorials are requested in Sharon's name to the First Presbyterian Church in Fairfield or Hospice Compassus' CHA Foundation.
