Donald F. McCARTY Sr. 76, of Salem, died Sunday, May 5, 2013, at home.
A graveside service is at 11 a.m. Thursday at Salem South Cemetery in Salem (note - Henry County, IA) with the Rev. Aaron Helterbran officiating. Burial will be the Salem South Cemetery.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday at Murphy Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.

Mr. McCARTY was born Nov. 25, 1936 in Argyle, the son of Floyd and Anna HUFFMAN McCARTY. He married Doris SMITH Aug. 9, 1975, at Lockridge Baptist Church.
He retired from Heatilator of Mount Pleasant in 1993.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, working on cars and crafting.
Survivors include his wife, Doris of Salem; one son, Donald McCARTY Jr. of Salem; one daughter, Tandee MOORE of Perryville, Mo.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth McCARTY of Lockridge, Melvin McCARTY of Texas and Mike McCARTY of California; three sisters, Virginia SAVAGE of Albia, Ruthie STRICKLAND and Carolyn McCARTY both of California; and several half brothers and sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons; his first wife, Sherry WRIGHT; and one sister, Lois ROE.
