Esther M. HAWK

Esther M. HAWK, 79, of 2663 159th Blvd., Brighton, died at 14:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at the home of her daughter, Rachel ENGWALL in Fairfield.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. Marvin Robeck officiating. Burial will be in Lower Richwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials have been established to Crossroads Hospice of Southeast Iowa, Salina Presbyterian Church or First Lutheran Church.

Mrs. HAWK was born May 9, 1922, in Penn Township of Jefferson County, the daughter of Townsend and Naomi KRUMBOLTZ SCHILLERSTROM. She married Maynard Robert HAWK Nov. 29, 1940, in Kirsville, Mo.

Mrs. HAWK grew up in the Salina community. She graduated from Fairfield High School and received her teaching degree from Parsons College in Fairfield. She was a rural school teacher and taught second grade at Washington School in Burlington until her marriage. She lived in Burlington when she taught school there, then lived her married life in the rural Brighton community, where she and her husband farmed.

She was a member of Salina Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her husband, one son, David HAWK and his wife Taina Tkonen, of Maplewood, N.J.; one daughter, Rachel ENGWALL and her husband Jeff of Fairfield; six grandchildren; one sister, Roselind HISER of Fairfield; and one brother, Dale SCHILLERSTROM of Lockridge.

She was preceded in death by a son, Darrell HAWK; her parents; one brother, Herbert SCHILLERSTROM.
