Margaret Mary HALLAN, 90, of Tacoma, Wash., died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Alaska Gardens in Tacoma.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Tacoma. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Tacoma.
Mrs. HALLAN was born July 25, 1923, in Tacoma, Wash., the daughter of Robert James and Margaret Mary CARR FREEMAN. She married Eugene HALLAN Oct. 5, 1946, in Tacoma, Wash. He preceded her in death Sept. 11, 2006.
She grew up in the Tacoma area and attended local schools.
She worked at Brown and Haley Candy.
She and her husband lived in Seattle a few years, then moved to El Cajon, Calif., in 1952.
She stayed at home raising her four daughters.
She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Parish in southern California.
In 1976, her family moved to the Pacific Northwest -- Kent and Tacoma.
She enjoyed sewing and made clothes for her children and later made clothing to sell in local boutiques. She enjoyed reading and taking walks.
Survivors include four daughters, Virginia FISHER and spouse Mark of Newport, Ore., Patricia KEY and spouse Bob of Corona, Calif., Diane Marie VANCE of Fairfield and Pamela WINGATE and spouse Steve of Spokane, Wash.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Isabelle PIRNIE of Tacoma.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Robert, Don, John and Bernard; two sisters, Dorothy GLASSER and Corrine DICKENSON; and one grandson.
