Gladys Evelyn WALLACE, 96, formerly of Chariton, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Sunnybrook Living Care in Fairfield.
A service is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton, with the Rev. Charles McCracken officiating. Interment will be at Chariton Cemetery following services.
Visitation is 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. WALLACE was born May 17, 1916, in Chariton, the daughter of Thomas Bruce and Evelyn HERRON CAMPBELL. She married Robert WALLACE in October 1937.
She was a graduate of Chariton High School and Drake University.
Before marriage, she taught in rural schools in Lucas and Warren counties. Later she taught at Van Wert, Clarke Community and Chariton schools.
She and her husband resided on a farm near Weldon and moved to Chariton upon retirement in 1976.
She was active in Retired Teachers, Elizabeth Circle, United Methodist Women, ISEA, Young at Heart, the former Business and Professional Women and United Methodist Church.
She was active in the Smyrna Friends Church when she lived near Weldon.
Survivors include her children Richard WALLACE of Elyria, Ohio; Shirley McCRACKEN and spouse Charles of Fairfield; and Karen SHAW and spouse Robert of Centerville, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one daughter, Sharon COOK; one grandson; and four sisters.
