Mary Etta May ELDER, 84, of Knoxville died Friday, June 16, 1988, in Des Moines.
The service was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Knoxville with the Rev. K. Wayne Hoehns and the Rev. Clair Odell officiating. Burial was in Libertyille (note: in Fell Cemetery) with a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. A memorial was established to First United Methodist Church radio ministry.
Mrs. ELDER was born April 4, 1904, at Centerville, the daughter of Bert and Cora REDDING PIXLEY. She married Bert ELDER Aug. 4, 1931, in Edina, Mo., and had worked as a hospital dietician. She had lived in Georgia and moved to Knoxville in 1971.
Surviving are a daughter, Margaret HALL of Knoxville; a son, Bert William of Leesburg, Fla.; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild and a sister, Esther "Peg" CAMPBELL of Fairfield. Her husband and a brother preceded her in death.
