Martha Jane MAYER dies

Martha Jane MAYER, 63, Fairfield Route 3, died Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Corpus Christi Medical Center in Corpus Christi, Tex.

Her death was caused by complications following surgery. She had been a patient in the center's intensive care unit for 12 days.

Following cremation in Texas, a memorial service will be conducted in Fairfield at a later date. Arrangements are in charge of the Raymond Funeral Home.

Mrs. MAYER was born Oct. 23, 1915 in Fairfield, the daughter of Harvey and Emma Lou IRWIN EASTON. A graduate of Fairfield High School, she attended Parsons College and received her degree at Iowa State University.

She was married to Wilbur MAYER Aug. 23, 1956 in Fairfield. Surviving are her husband, two stepchildren, Ann FLEMING, Dallas, Tex., and George MAYER, San Francisco, Calif., two stepgrandchildren and a cousin, Marjorie McCLAIN, Fairfield.

Mr. and Mrs. MAYER left Fairfield in December to spend the holiday period with their daughter and family in Dallas. Later they went to Aransas Pass, Tex., where Mrs. Mayer became ill and was first hospitalized.

Mrs. MAYER was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, Chapter C, PEO, Pi Beta Phi Sorority, City Panhellenic and Daughters of the American Revolution.

Admin. note: Buried in Lot 4th.013 in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA. She was Wilbur's second wife, his first being Marie E. KOCH; all three are buried in the same lot.
