Ronald Gene O'BRIEN, 83, died Friday, March 8, 2013, in Ankeny.
His internment (sic - interment) in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery was today.
Memorial contributions may be made in his hame to the Dubuque Regional Humane Society or the Salvation Army.

Mr. O'BRIEN was born May 1, 1929, the son of Joseph and Betty TURNER O'BRIEN in Ottumwa. He married Beverly JOHNSTON. He married Marilyn MYERS Feb. 26, 1974.
He spent years as a businessman and community leader in Fairfield.
He served as a chairman of the United Fund, president of the Walton Club, state president of the Iowa Jaycees, and national vice president of the Jaycees. He and his second wife owned their own businesses.
He was active and loved sports, politics and community service.
He served as a private first class in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne Division.
Survivors include three children, Rebecca O'BRIEN-BUCH, David O'BRIEN and spouse Vicki, and Meghan O'BRIEN-CLUVER and spouse Aaron; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; his parents; one daughter, Deborah; one sister, Rosemary; one brother, Robert; one son-in-law Jerry; and one great-granddaughter.
