Donald HUGHES, 65, of Mount Pleasant and formerly of Keosauqua, was found dead at his home Thursday, March 7, 2013.

Arrangements are pending at the Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant.

Donald Duane HUGHES

Donald Duane HUGHES, 65, of Mount Pleasant and formerly of Keosauqua, died Monday, March 4, 2013, at home.

The body has been cremated. A graveside service and burial of cremains in Center Chapel Cemetery southeast of Keosauqua will be at a later date.

Memorials to the family may be left at or sent to Pedrick Funeral Home, PO Box 513, Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. HUGHES was born Jan. 19, 1948, in Fairfield, the son of Roscoe N. and Maxine ELLIOTT HUGHES.

He grew up in Van Buren County and graduated from Van Buren High School in 1966.

He earned a bachelor's degree in California.

He had lived in California, Fort Madison, Burlington and for many years in Mount Pleasant.

He worked in human services in Fort Madison and had been employed at Fort Madison and Mount Pleasant correctional facilities.

In recent years, he was self-employed as a restorer and refinisher of antique furniture and trunks.

Survivors include his mother of Keosauqua; and one sister, Roxie BOLLINGER of Springfield, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Ronald "Zip" HUGHES.

Donald D. HUGHES, 65, of Mount Pleasant and formerly of Keosauqua, died Thursday, March 4, 2013, at home.

A graveside service and burial of cremains is at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Center Chapel Cemetery southeast of Keosauqua with the Rev. Elaine Foley officiating.

Family and friends will gather at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua for a processional to the cemetery.

Memorials to the family may be left at the funeral home or at the service.
