Aletha M. COLLETT, 91, of Mount Pleasant and formerly of rural Fairfield, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at the Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant.

Aletha Mae COLETT, 91, of Mount Pleasant and formerly of rural Fairfield, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant.
A funeral is at 2 p.m Thursday at Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Jeffrey A. McPheron of Trenton United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Family will be present from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant Manor Care Center of Pleasant View Mennonite Church.

Mrs. COLLETT was born July 29, 1921, in Rose Hill, the daughter of Harrison Hiatt and Ethel Gay BURGESS ALLEN. She married Floyd Thomas COLLETT July 31, 1939, in Des Moines. He died Nov. 5, 1980, in Fairfield.
She moved to Ottumwa as a young child, where she graduated school.
She attended nurses training at St. Joseph's Hospital in Ottumwa. For 15 years, she worked as a certified nurses' aide at Parkview Nursing Home in Fairfield.
She also tended to several of the "farm wife" chores on the family farm.
She was a member of the Pleasant View Mennonite Church of Mount Pleasant.
She was active as a volunteer at the former Mount Pleasant Senior Center and Congregate Meal Site. She would volunteer her time substituting for the meal site director.
She served on the Southeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging.
She participated in the services of the local Democratic Party.
She enjoyed crocheting, bingo and reading novel series. She derived great pleasure in watching and feeding birds.
Survivors include two sons, Harold COLLETT and spouse Diane of Mount Pleasant, and H. Duane COLLETT and spouse Konnie of St. Charles, Mo.; two daughters, Ann SOURWINE of Mount Pleasant, and Jean Marie WHALEY and spouse Gary of Effingham, Ill.; one brother, Jim HARRISON of Independence; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Wayne and Robert HARRISON; one sister in infancy, Mary Frances ALLEN; and one grandson.
