Bill Arthur STRAWHACKER

Bill Arthur STRAWHACKER, 67 of Fairfield, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Parkview Care Center, in Fairfield.

The funeral is planned for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St Mary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Stephen C. Page officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery near Kingston.

Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, with family present from 5-8 p.m. at Behner Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairfield Trojan Booster Club or Holden Cancer Clinic at University of Iowa. Memorials can be sent to Shawn Lisk, 50 E. Madison Ave., Fairfield 52556.

Mr. STRAWHACKER was born April 3, 1945, in Burlington, the son of Arthur Raymond and Marjorie GILLETTE STRAWHACKER.

Mr. STRAWHACKER graduated from Mediapolis High School in 1963.

He was a longtime resident of Fairfield.

He was involved and honored at the Coaches vs. Cancer Basketball event. His company, Fairfield Industries, was one of the presenting sponsors.

Throughout the years, Mr. STRAWHACKER has been a supporter of Fairfield High school. Along with his monetary contributions to programs and to events such as the Coaches vs. Cancer Basketball event, he had been a devoted Trojan Athletic Booster Club board member. He volunteered countless hours and sacrificed much for the betterment of students.

Mr. STRAWHACKER battled cancer with positivity, and the way he lived his life was an inspiration, which is why the Trojan Stadium press box was named in his honor in 2011.

He was also proud of helping and sponsoring the Fairfield Rebels Softball team.

Mr. STRAWHACKER was a member of the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce, American Softball Association District Commission, Fairfield Economic Development Association and lifetime Benefactor of National Rifle Association.

Survivors include two sisters: Ruth STRAWHACKER and Barb BLOW, both of Burlington; and five brothers: Dave STRAWHACKER of Burlington, Joe STRAWHACKER of Granbury, Texas, Tom STRAWHACKER of Burlington, Tim STRAWHACKER of New Prague, Minn., and Bob STRAWHACKER of Mediapolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Stephen STRAWHACKER.
