Melvin Leroy LEVERICH

Melvin Leroy LEVERICH, 84, of Fairfield died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, in McAllen, Texas.

He was born July 7, 1928, in Hartford.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen MASON of Yankton, S.D., and Dennise ATWOOD of Des Moines; and a special friend Donna Boughner of Fairfield.

'Smokey' Melvin Leroy LEVERICH

"Smokey" Melvin Leroy LEVERICH, 84, of Fairfield, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, in McAllen, Texas.

A graveside memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. July 7, at Hartford Cemetery in Hartford (note: in Warren Co., IA).

Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle is handling arrangements.

Mr. LEVERICH was born July 7, 1928, in Hartford, the son of Blanche CUTLIP and Earl Grant LEVERICH. He married Marjorie Lou GARRETT Jan. 28, 1950.

He worked as a mechanic and enjoyed building campers and other things.

He worked for the Des Moines Water Works for 35 years before retirement.

He enjoyed traveling and in his later years spent winters in Texas.

He was a Mason for 60 years.

Survivors include a special friend, Donna Boughner of Fairfield; two daughters, Denise and Karen; several grandchildren and stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and one son, Gerald.
