Betty I. Sears, 73, formerly of Cantril, died at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua, where she had resided for the past two years.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Cantril.

Visitation with the family present will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, just prior to the service.

Memorials to Mapel Grove Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at Route 1, Box 1A, Luray, Mo. 63253.

Mrs. Sears was born April 21, 1930, near Cantril, the daughter of John A. and Blanche Roberts Meade. She married John C. Sears March 15, 1966, in Quincy, Ill. He died Dec. 13, 1986.

Mrs. Sears lived most of her life in the Cantril Community, had done home nursing and had worked at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center.

She had been active in American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include one brother, Carl Meade of Bushnell, Fla.; and one sister, Liz Sedore of Luray, Mo.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Charles Meade.
