E. SHIELDS dies at 84

Elizabeth SHIELDS, 84, who formerly resided at 504 W. Washington, died at 5:50 p.m. Monday at the Jefferson County Hospital. She had been in failing health for several years.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Kincaid officiating. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery east of Fairfield.

Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Elizabeth SHIELDS was born July 28, 1896, in Ottumwa. She was the daughter of Goerge(sp) and Lorena ROSS MILLARD. She was married March 23, 1915, to Orville SHIELDS. The wedding took place at her home in the Pleasant Home Community in Wapello County. He died March 20, 1968.

Mrs. SHIELDS had lived in Jefferson County over 40 years and was a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 96 and First Christian Church.

Suvivors include one daughter, Dorothy ELLIOTT, Libertyville; and a son, Everett SHIELDS, Fairfield. Also four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
