Porter W. PRATT, 82, of Batavia died at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at Jefferson County Hospital.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Peoples Church, north of Batavia, with the Rev. Jack Jackson and the Rev. David Albert officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery in Batavia. Open visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Friday with the family present from 7-8 p.m. at Kremer Funeral Home in Batavia. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Mr. PRATT was born Oct. 26, 1917, in Utica, the son of Manly and Hazel SHAMPANOI (sic - SHAMPNOI) PRATT. He married Mary EARLS Nov. 22, 1943, in Batavia. She died Sept. 7, 1993.
Mr. PRATT was educated in Stockport and lived in the Batavia area his entire adult life. He was formerly employed by Batavia Grain Elevator and as a semi truck driver. He then was employed as a welder at Acco-Louden Machinery in Fairfield for 17 years until his retirement in 1982.
Survivors include one daughter, Joan MILLS of Batavia; three sons, David PRATT of Batavia, Floyd PRATT of Ottumwa and Manly PRATT of Floris; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley FRINK of Fremont, Neb., Freda HOCKING of Hooper, Neb., and Evelyn DOVICO of Batavia.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Glenn PRATT; two brothers, Richard and Bert PRATT; and two grandsons.
