SHONDEL rites

Clyde L. SHONDEL, 67, Route 2, died at 8:40 p.m. at Jefferson County Hospital. He had been in failing health for several years.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. D.O. Van Dyne officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

SHONDEL was born July 22, 1914 at Centerville, the son of Michael and Anna HECKETHORN SHONDEL. A member of the Baptist church, he lived most of his life in Fairfield and was employed by the city in the street department for 22 years until his retirement. He married Grace DENNISTON (sic - DENNISON) Aug. 16, 1937 at Sigourney. She survives.

Also suriving are six sons, Fred of Rockford, Ill., Albert of Libertyville, John, Clyde Jr., Douglas and Larry, all of Fairfield; six daughters, Debra HEDQUIST of Rockford, Ill., Ella GREINER of Washington, Anna WAGNER, Sherrie ADKINS, Tina THOMMEN and Charlotte DONAHUE, all of Fairfield; 23 grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister, Mrs. RUSSELL and one brother, Arthur SHONDEL, both of Fairfield. His parents, three children and two grandchildren preceded him in death.
