Friday, July 20, 197399 Year Old Woman Dies
Nellie KIRKPATRICK, one of the oldest native residents of the community, died at 6:45 p.m. Thursday at the Jefferson County Hospital where she had been a patient the past few days.
Born Jan. 6, 1874, on a farm three miles east of Fairfield, she lacked approximately six months of being 100 years old.
Last rites will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in the Fairfield City Cemetery.
Miss KIRKPATRICK spent her entire life in the Fairfield Community except five years during which she lived with a brother in Battle Creek, Mich.
She attended Parsons College and was employed at Thorne's Department Store, was a bookkeeper for the telephone company for ten years and was employed at the First National Bank for 15 years.
She had made her home at 301 E. Briggs for the past eight and a half years.
Nellie KIRKPATRICK was the daughter of Henry H. and Sarah KIRKPATRICK. She was born just nine years following the end of the Civil War.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Westminster Bible Class, and a longtime member of Fairfield Chapter No. 39, Order of Eastern Star.
