Ronald BOWMAN, 65, 808 W. Briggs Ave., died at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, in the emergency room of Jefferson County Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield with the Rev. Robert Gates officiating. Memorials have been established to Veterans of Foreign Wars or Fairfield Senior Citizen Center. Mr. Bowman donated his body to medical research.
Mr. BOWMAN was born Jan. 20, 1935, in Knoxville, the son of James and Florence THOMPSON. He was reared by his mother and step-father, Jonas COLLIER, following his father's death. He married Sharon DROZ Dec. 19, 1965, in Fairfield.
He lived in Knoxville and Ottumwa. He attended Ottumwa schools. He has been a resident of Fairfield since 1966. He worked in the furnace department of Iowa Malleable. He had served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany.
He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Fairfield and the VFW.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert BOWMAN of Fairfield and Raymond BOWMAN of Mankato, Minn.; two grandchildren; and one sister, Marjorie DRILLEAU of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
