Joanna M. HORSTMAN, 82 of rural Bonaparte died at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Joanna M. HORSTMAN, 82, of rural Bonaparte, died at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
The funeral is set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Bonaparte United Church, with the Rev. Goldie Layman and the Rev. Richard Eis officiating. Burial will be in Bonaparte Cemetery.
Visitation opens at 2 p.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with family present 5-7 p.m. A P.E.O. service by Chapter AB follows visitation.
Memorials to Bonaparte United Church or Bonaparte EMT's (sic) may be left at the funeral home or church or mailed to the family at 22449 Route W-40, Bonaparte 52620.
Mrs. HORSTMAN was born Aug. 5, 1930, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Nova DECKER HENDRICHSEN. She married Harold V. HORSTMAN April 28, 1956, in Bonaparte Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. HORSTMAN graduated from Bonaparte High School and American Institute of Commerce in Davenport where she played basketball.
She was an active member of Bonaparte United Church where she served in many capacities including elder, clerk of session and Sunday school teacher.
Mrs. HORSTMAN was a long-time member of Chapter AB, P.E.O. and had been a Bonaparte Lionel.
She had worked at State Central Bank in Bonaparte and as a secretary at Harmony High School.
She was devoted to her family and was faithful in attending all of their sporting events, concerts and other activities.
She enjoyed reading, flowers, traveling, painting and doing puzzles.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Kenny HORSTMAN and spouse Candy of Bonaparte; two daughters, Kathy VAN WINKLE and spouse Alan of Hillsboro, and Lori BANK and spouse Lloyd of Salem; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Jean SAUNDERS of Bonaparte; three brothers, Herman HENDRICHSEN Jr. of Fairfield, Duane HENDRICHSEN of Burlington and Larry HENDRICHSEN of Stuart, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Jerry Jean HENDRICHSEN.
