Helen WHITMORE Rites Thursday

Mrs. Helen HAMMON WHITMORE, 76, former Fairfield resident, passed away Monday at 6:55 p.m. in Seattle, Wash. The family residence in Seattle is at 1105 Spring Street.

Following services held today in Seattle, the casket will be shipped to Fairfield and is scheduled to arrive at the Raymond Funeral Home late this evening.

Prayer service will be recited Thursday at 9:45 a.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with Father Holtkamp officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Helen HAMMON WHITMORE was born Oct. 23, 1896 (sic - 1895), in Fairfield. She was the daughter of John and Frances ACKERMAN HAMMON. She graduated from the Fairfield High School in 1914.

She moved to Seattle many years ago where she married Alfred WHITMORE Sept. 28, 1939. He died Dec. 13, 1963, in Seattle.

Mrs. WHITMORE is survived by two sisters, Marie QUILLIAM and Irene KENDRICK, both of Seattle; and two brothers, Dr. Bernard HAMMON, Salinas, Calif., and Richard HAMMON, Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Rosary services for Helen WHITMORE were held Tuesday afternoon at the Booth-Ashmore Mortuary in Seattle and the Catholic Mass was held at 11 a.m. today.

Admin. note: Helen's obituary states she was born in 1896, however the Social Security Death Index gives 1895 as her birth year, as does the 1900 census. She and husband Alfred are buried in Lot SDiv.1-015 in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, IA.
