Irene Spanier Roberts
January 05, 2004Irene Spanier Roberts, 93, of Tumwater, Wash., died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, at her home after failing health.
A graveside funeral will be held at Highland Cemetery in Richland, with the Rev. Jane Jordan officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Gould Funeral Home in Richland.
A memorial to the American Heart Association has been established and may be mailed to the family at 230 S. Wood St., Birmingham 52535.
Mrs. Roberts was born in Redding, Minn., the daughter of Pete and Susie Hammen Spanier.
Mrs. Roberts graduated from Richland High School in 1928. She taught school for a short time and then became a secretary working in Missouri and California. She moved to Seattle, Wash., and later to Tumwater when her health began to decline.
Survivors include two half-sisters, Geneva Meek of Libertyville and Helen Halstead of Iowa City; and one half-brother, Kenneth Spanier of Richland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sister, Margaret Krewson and Laura Stephens; one step-brother, Vern Spanier; and two half-brothers, George and Jack Spanier.
