Ralph R. Reed, 80, of Salina, Kan., died Monday, Dec. 13 at a nursing home in Marquette, Kan.
Arrangements are pending at the Rush Smith Funeral Home in Salina. Memorials are to the River Estates Nursing Home Marquette, Kan.
REED was born Oct. 30, 1895 in Fairfield, Iowa. He was a graduate of the Fairfield High School and attended the University of Iowa. He received his degree from Pittsburg (Kan.) State Teachers College in 1924 and from that time until his retirement in 1963 he was a mechanical arts teacher in the Salina Schools.
He was a member of the University United Methodist Church in Salina. Among his professional organizations, he held the Silver Beaver Award for Boy Scouting.
He is survived by his widow, Evelyn; one son, Dr. James B. REED of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; two daughters, Mrs. Harold SCRIBNER of Salina and Mrs. Ernest PARSON of Wichita, Kan.; three brothers, C.E. REED and Earl D. REED, both of Fairfield and V.J. REED of Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters, Pearl REED and Gladys BEHNER of Fairfield; six grandchldren and one great-grandchild.
