Arlo D. DEVORE

BATAVIA - Arlo D. DeVORE, 60, rural Batavia, died this morning, Tuesday, March 8, 1994, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa.

Arrangements are pending at Campbell-Kremer Funeral Home in Batavia.

BATAVIA - The service for Arlo D. DeVORE, 60, of rural Batavia, who died Tuesday, March 8, 1994, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Peoples Church north of Batavia with the Rev. Jack Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery. Open visitation begins after 9 a.m. Thursday at Campbell-Kremer Funeral Home in Batavia with the family present from 7 to 8 that night. A memorial fund has been established.

DeVORE was born Aug. 16, 1933, in Jefferson County, the son of Guy R. and Elsie McCREARY DEVORE. He was reared and educated in Batavia and Davis County and lived his entire adult life in the Batavia area. He married Jean SMOTHERS on Feb. 6, 1955, in Eldon. He was employed at Rockwell International in Fairifled for 30 years and was a plumber in the Batavia area for 27 years. He retired in 1990 because of illness. He was a member of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, and a former member of Assembly of God Church in Eldon.

Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Marilyn CLINE of Iowa City, Jacqui HEARN of Batavia, Sherilyn DeVORE of Ottumwa, Dena DeVORE of Carthage, Ill.; four grandchildren; three sisters, Shearley McDOWELL of Agency, Irene LILES of Selma, Carol DeVORE of Batavia; two brothers, Forrest of Eldon and Dennis of Floris. His parents, a sister, Fern KIPER, and four brothers, Paul, Donald, Lowell and Leonard, preceded him in death.
