Edith JOHNSON dies

Edith Bertina JOHNSON, 87, 202 N. Main, died today at 4 a.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital where she had been a patient since Sept. 11.

The service will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Keith Lingwall officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to p.m. and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home.

The daughter of John Peter and Matilda HOLLANDER EDMUND, she was born July 19, 1893 in Ottumwa.

She married Elmer Christian JOHNSON Feb. 23, 1916 in Ottumwa. She had lived in the Fairfield community since 1916.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, a 65-year member of the Good Cheer Society, a lifetime member of Lutheran Church Women and a charter member of the Lutheran Church Quilters and a member of the Fancywork Circle.

She is survived by one daughter, Arlene JENS, Davenport; two sons, Donald JOHNSON and Lawrence JOHNSON, both of Fairfield, nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. E.R. SHARP, Omaha, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1949; one infant son, one grandson, three brothers and one sister.
