J. B. FOX DIED THURSDAY, Aug. 20, next day after moving into his new home in Brighton. Jacob B. FOX, for 22 years an honored citizen of Brighton, died at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon, Aug. 20, of hemorrhage of the brain..... He was born at Clinton, New Jersey, April 9, 1840..... He came to Iowa with his father at the age of 16 and settled in Fairfield. When the war broke out in 1861 he enlisted in Co. E, 2nd Iowa Infantry, and served through the war. He was color bearer and the old tattered flag he carried is still preserved in the library at Fairfield.

On Nov. 3, 1872, he was married to Mary M. HARLAN at Richland where he lived before coming to Brighton in 1892. He was a jeweler and worked at the trade after coming to Brighton..... His wife and three chidren survive him, one daughter, Grace, having died in infancy. Edith, wife of Clark TRAFTON, lives at Columbus Junction, Bruce and Olive at Brighton..... Presbyterian Church..... Last survivor of a family of nine chldren. Two of his sisters died this summer within a few weeks of each other.....
