Virgil P. BOOTH

Virgil P. BOOTH, 79, of Libertyville died at 3:36 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Royar officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Fell Cemetery near Libertyville. Family visitation will be 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Libertyville Community Center, Fell Cemetery Association or the donor’s choice.

Mr. BOOTH was born March 18 (sic - 8th), 1919, in Fairfield, the son of John P. and Emma HARDIN BOOTH. He married Katheryn Louise WORLEY June 20, 1947, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She died Oct. 23, 1996.

In his early years, Mr. BOOTH traveled to the Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Iowa working the wheat fields at harvest time and to do construction. He would help area farmers with their field work and chores while they went on vacation. He drove grain trucks and hauled farm chemicals for the Libertyville Elevator. He was a farmer in Jefferson County before his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. His hobby was attending auctions and buying many items. He was a member of the Libertyville Senior Citizens and a board member of Fell Cemetery Association.

Mr. BOOTH is survived by nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Juanita; and one brother, Warren.
