From Guardians Records in the office of Clerk of Court, Jefferson County Courthouse, Fairfield,IA, we find that John Coop died intestate on Oct.12, 1848. His widow, Sarah was guardian of his children. 10 children in all, the oldest of which is now 26 years of age and youngest is 9 years of age. David Coop was in Mercer county MO Apr.7, 1856. On Mar.14, 1856. John Coop, David Coop, Christina Coop, Reuben Coop, James Coop and Philip Coop who are now minors and were at his death; four others who are now adults, William, Betsey, Hannah and Ransom Coop. John Coop was buried in Union Cemetery.
