William H. Barker

William H. Barker, 71, of Lincoln, Neb., and formerly of Keosauqua, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, in Lincoln.

The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Janet Morse officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials to Tabitha Health Care or Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, both in Lincoln, may be mailed to the family at 7100 Old Post Road, Lincoln, NE 68506.

Mr. Barker was born March 28, 1932, near Fairfield, the son of Hugh S. and Grace Metz Barker.

Mr. Barker grew up in the Keosauqua community, graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1949, served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was in the grocery business in Chadron and Lincoln, Neb.

He was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife Darlene; one daughter, Shelly Jacobson and husband Scott of Red Wing, Minn.; two sons, John Barker and wife Jackie of Lincoln and Ron Barker and wife of Omaha, Neb.; six grandchildren; and one sister, Catharine Crist of Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one infant sister, Mary Elizabeth Barker.
