December 15, 2003Robert L. Brown, 62, of Colona, Ill., died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at Grand Forks, N.D., where he was visiting.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Phil Campbell officiating. Burial will be Zion Lutheran Cemetery, east of Douds.
Open visitation began at 2 p.m. today with the family present from 7-8 p.m.
Memorials to the family may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 413 Second Ave. C, Silvis, IL 61282.
Mr. Brown was born Nov. 6, 1941, near Birmingham, the son of Walter L. and Cora Jeffrey Brown. He and his first wife Joyce were divorced. He later married Alice Housholder and they were divorced.
Mr. Brown graduated from Birmingham High School, served in the United States Marine Corps and worked many years at John Deere in Moline, Ill. He also owned and trained harness racing horses.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Silvis, Marine Corps League and Veterans of Foreign Wars in East Moline and A Brotherhood Aimed Toward Education in Moline.
Survivors include four daughters, Laura Lynn White of Crystal Lake, Ill., Shelley White in Georgia, Audrey Brown of Silvis and Elizabeth Horton of Colona; one stepdaughter, Sherri Bartholomew of East Moline; nine grandchildren; his father of Birmingham; and one sister, Beverly Horton of Lockridge.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
