The Fairfield Ledger, Feb. 25, 1903,p.6, col.4. HE WAS A PIONEER AND VETERAN SOLDIER. Danile McDonald died in this city after a brief illness. He was born in Guernsey county OH, Feb.22, 1822 and came to this county in 1846, where practically all the remainder of his life was spent. He was married to Mary A. Cummings who survives him Nov.2, 1848. Six children, four now living; Flora and J.C. in this city, Mrs. W.C. Godfrey of Taunton MA, and Frank. Mr. McDonald was not only a pioneer, but a soldier of the Civil War. He was in Colorado when the government called for troops to suppress the rebellion and enlisted as a private in Company H, Third Colorado Volunteer Infantry. Later he had service with Company C, Second Colorado Cavalry. First Baptist Church.
