Monday, January 6, 1975X. C. NADY Dies At 82
X. C. NADY, 82, former Fairfield attorney, died Saturday morning at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Tex. He had been a patient there since Dec. 26.
Last rites will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Karl Holtkamp officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Prayers for a Christian Wake will be held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Xavier Clifford NADY was born May 14, 1891 on the family farm southeast of Fairfield, the son of Frances Xavier and Mary Catherine FISHER NADY.
He was a member of the Fairfield High School Class of 1911 and graduated from Drake University in 1915. From 1915 to 1945 he practiced law in Fairfield. He served as city attorney for eight years and was chariman of the County Democratic Central Committee for several years. He also served as exalted ruler of the local Elks lodge and was the first secretary of the Fairfield Lions Club.
NADY was married to Jennie WRAY on June 4, 1917. She preceded her husband in death on June 11, 1974.
In 1945 the family moved to Des Moines where NADY accepted appointment as a U.S. prosecuting attorney. In 1948 he returned to private practice in Manning and in 1953 he joined James A. France in the law partnership of France and NADY in Tipton.
NADY was honored by Drake University in 1965 when he was awarded an honorary doctor of jurisprudence degree.
In 1967 Mr. and Mrs. NADY moved to Youngtown, Ariz. He served as judge-magistrate in that community until ill health forced his retirement in 1972.
NADY is survived by three children: X. W. NADY, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Peyton CARLSON, Denver, Colo.; and Gary A. NADY, Dallas, Tex. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. One brother is deceased.
