Laurence "Larry" E. Wolfe
December 04, 2003Laurence "Larry" E. Wolfe, 86, of 2237 Highway 34 East, died at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at Parkview Care Center.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jan Burns-Hintze officiating. Burial will be in Glasgow Cemetery in Glasgow.
Family visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Fairfield Public Library.
Mr. Wolfe was born Dec. 25, 1916, in Carson, the son of Arthur Eacrett and Ione Norton Wolfe. He married E. Pauline Cochran Aug. 28, 1940, in Fairfield. She died April 17, 1988.
Mr. Wolfe lived most of his life in the Fairfield community. He graduated from Parsons College, with a major in chemistry and a minor in biology and education.
During World War II, he lived in Centerville, where her was one of 10 teachers at the GI Institute. He owned and operated the Artesian Ice Company in Fairfield. He also was a broker for Wolfe Real Estate in Fairfield.
Mr. Wolfe was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Fairfield Lions Club, Howard Johnson Coffee Club and a lifetime member of Fairfield Clinton Masonic Lodge 15 A.F. and A.M. He also was a past Rotary Club member.
Survivors include two daughters, Nadine Garbett of Geneseo, Ill., and Susan Fritts and husband John of Fairfield; three grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister; one stepgrandson; and one son-in-law, Richard Garbett.
