November 22, 1950Arthur SCARBOROUGH Dies At the Home of Son Near Pleasant Plain
PLEASANT PLAIN, Ia., Nov. 22 - Arthur B. SCARBOROUGH, 87, passed away yesterday at the home of his son, Glenn SCARBOROUGH, near Pleasant Plain. A retired farmer, he had been ill for five weeks.
SCARBOROUGH was born March 18, 1863 in Dutch Neck, N.J., the son of Lewis and Margaret SCARBOROUGH. He married Jean SCHUREMAN February 9, 1888. She preceded him in death in 1919. SCARBOROUGH moved to Fremont in 1904 and was an active farmers until 14 years ago. He had lived with his son since that time.
He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Mary FERGUSON, Fairfield; Mrs. Helen RUSSELL, Ottumwa; Mrs. Ruth NORRIS, Farson; Mrs. Grace ROQUET, Fremont; Lewis SCARBOROUGH, Ottumwa; Tom SCARBOROUGH, Fairfield, and Glenn SCARBOROUGH, Pleasant Plain. One sister, Mrs. Anna IRELAND, Pasadena, Calif., 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Fremont Baptist church in charge of the Rev. R.A. Reed. The Rev. Robert McElderry will assist. Burial will be in Cedar Township cemetery near Fremont.
The body is at the Fremont Funeral chapel.
