The Fairfield Daily Ledger, Sat. Mar. 29, 1924, p.1, col.1. MRS. HOAGLAND DIED LAST NIGHT. Mrs. Sarah E, wife of Harrison C. Hoagland, died last night at the family home, 600 W. Harrison Street. Free Methodist Church..Interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Hoagland was born in Jefferson county Oct. 15, 1853 and was the daughter of William Woodside, one of the pioneers of the county and who at one time owned a large farm adjoining Fairfield on the northeast. She married Mr. Hoagland Sep. 3, 1874. Six children were born to them, two dying in infancy. The surviving children are: Mrs. Cora M. Hough of Hayward, CA; Miss Arminta Hoagland of Chicago Heights,IL; Mrs. Laura Vantassel of Keokuk and Mrs. Berta Allender of Moline, IL. In the fall of 1877 the family moved to southen KS and the next spring went on to Jewell county, where they lived until the fall of 1895 when they moved back to Jefferson county.
