The Fairfield Ledger June 24, 1903, page 7, col, 1. DIED IN OTTUMWA. William T. Hoagland died in Ottumwa Thursday, from blood poisoning following a surgical operation. Mr Hoagland was a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hoagland of this city. He was born in this county April 23, 1863, and the greater portion of his life was spent here. He married Alice Woodside in 1882 who died May 25, 1901. One child survives them, Maud, a girl of 14. Mr. Hoagland was a man of good character. Remains interred in this city Friday. Funeral services held at the home of a brother, H.C. Hoagland.
