Jack E. MITCHELL, 89, of rural Keosauqua died at 6:10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren Hospice in Keosauqua.
Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Jack E. MITCHELL 89, of rural Keosauqua died at 6:10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren Hospice, Keosauqua.
A funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Lee McIntosh officiating. Burial with military honors by American Legion Beer-Barker Post No. 113 of Keosauqua will be in Center Chapel Cemetery southeast of Keosauqua.
Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with family present from 5-7 p.m.
Gifts toward a memorial to be designated later by the family may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 26055 Osage Ave., Keosauqua 52565.
Mr. MITCHELL was born Feb. 23, 1923 north of Bonaparte, the son of Ralph and Thelma SCOTTON MITCHELL. He married Betty J. PERKINS May 2, 1948 in Keosauqua.
He graduated from Cantril High School and served in the U. S. Navy Air Corps during World War II. He returned to Van Buren County and spent his life farming.
He and his wife operated Mitchell Egg Co. for half a century. In recent years, he sold real estate.
He was a member of Center Chapel United Methodist Church.
He was a member of American Legion Beer-Barker Post No. 113 and Van Buren County Farm Bureau. He served on the Van Buren County Republican Central Committee and as a Vernon Township trustee and on the township election board.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; three daughters, Judy THOMAS and spouse Melvin of Keosauqua, Chris MORGAN and spouse Randy of Mount Pleasant, and Diane MITCHELL and spouse Jacquie WELKENER of St. Louis; four grandchildren; and sevel great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
