Raymond John ZARAGOZA Jr., 50, died Sept. 23, 2012 at his residence in Brownsville, Texas attempting to rescue his grandson from a house fire.
A funeral was held Sept. 27 at Garza Memorial Funeral Home in Brownsville followed by a burial at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. ZARAGOZA was born and raised in Fairfield.
He was an avid fisherman and fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
He was a tug-of-war champion in the Sombrero Festival for many years.
He also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson (sic - Harley-Davidson).
Survivors include his wife, Pennie M. EZEQUIEL ZARAGOZA, one son, Hanrick EZEQUIEL; his father, Raymond ZARAGOZA; three sisters, Mary AMES, Liz BREON, and Estella G. ZARAGOZA; and his grandmother, Maria ZARAGOZA.
Mr. ZARAGOZA was preceded in death by his mother, Esperanza ZARAGOZA; one sister, Lourdes FLORES; and one grandson.
