Richard L. STOOKESBERRY

Richard L. STOOKESBERRY, 72, of Fort Madison, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A private family service will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation.

Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant is handling arrangements.

Mr. STOOKESBERRY was born Sept. 30, 1939, in Bloomfield, the son of William Dean and Nola LUNSFORD STOOKESBERRY. He married Sandra Irene FORD in 1958. They later divorced.

He drove a route delivery truck for Colonial Bread when he began working. For many years he was a union iron worker with Local 577 of Burlington.

He had served in the Iowa National Guard with the unit in Mount Pleasant.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge (sic - Aerie or Club) and the Moose Lodge, both in Fort Madison.

An avid golfer, he was a member of Spring Lake Country Club.

Survivors include two sons, Tim STOOKESBERRY and spouse Deb of Mount Pleasant and Kurt STOOKESBERRY and spouse Tammy of Arlington, Texas; two daughters, Kim BENNETT of Marietta, Ga., and Shelly MYERS of Dallas, Ga.; one brother Stand STOOKESBERRY of Granbury, Texas; and two sisters, Sharon KURKA of Fairfield and Deanna JONES of Waco, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Anita YORK and Janeanne MILLER.
