J. GEORGE dies at 72

LOCKRIDGE - John Eugene GEORGE, 72, Lockridge, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Maple Leaf Center in Mount Pleasant.

Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First Augustana Lutheran Church in Lockridge with the Rev. Lenwood Monte officiating. Interment will be in the Lockridge Cemetery.

Family visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Raymond Funeral Home.

John Eugene GEORGE was born June 16, 1909, in Ottumwa. He was the son of Henry W. and Estella Louise DOGGETT GEORGE. His marriage to Edith JOHNSON took place Dec. 28, 1938, at the home of her parents in Lockridge.

He spent most of his married life in Lockridge and was member of the First Augustana Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his widow; two sons, Melvin, Hamilton, Ill., and John M., Owatonna, Minn.; seven grandchildren and two sisters, Ruth HALLBERG, Merced, Calif., and Louise KATZER, Marshalltown.

GEORGE was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
