Death Takes V.E. KURTZ

Victor Earl KURTZ, 58, a native of Pleasant Plain, died suddenly of an apparent heart attack at his home in Clear Lake.

The funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church at East Pleasant Plain with Father Louis Leonhardt officiating.

Prayers for a Christian Wake will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home. The casket will be closed following this service and will not be reopened.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

KURTZ was born Nov. 2, 1918 in Jefferson County, the son of Peter H. and Anna PACHA KURTZ. A veteran of World War II, he had been employed as a civil engineer in Thailand for several years.

KURTZ was married May 30, 1970 to Eileen STOKES. Surviving are his widow; three sons, Peter, at home, Richard and Robert, Iowa City; and one daughter, Carolyn Sue, at home.

Also surviving are a brother, J.G. KURTZ, Pleasant Plain; and a sister, Mrs. Marjorie HAYEK, Iowa City.

KURTZ was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Clear Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
