Harriet Lorraine LONG JENNINGS

Harriet Lorraine LONG JENNINGS, 91, of Mount Pleasant, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at Sunnybrook at Ashford Park in Mount Pleasant.

A funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Michael Hess officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery, Mount Pleasant.

Visitation is noon to 9 p.m. Friday at Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Family will be present from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or Hospice Compassus.

Mrs. JENNINGS was born Aug. 3, 1921, in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of Max Earl and Stella Marguerite ABRAHAMSON LONG. She married Melvin Howard JENNINGS Sept. 8, 1936, in Kahoka, Mo. He died Nov. 19, 2001.

She attended school in Mount Pleasant.

She was the bookkeeper for Jennings Dairy, operated by her husband and his brother Ralph. She drove a dairy route for three years. For 14 years she worked in the cafeteria and was a dietary aide at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.

She was active with her church, Calvary Baptist. She was a member of Tuesday Calling Group for 60 years, which calls on church visitors and new members in the community. She often took part in Bible study, Sunday school and women's activities at church.

She enjoyed time with her family.

She was adept at crocheting.

Survivors include one son, James JENNINGS and spouse Janet of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Donna KNEDLER and spouse John of Weslaco, Texas; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and one brother Donald LONG of Mount Pleasant.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lula SODEGREN; and two great-grandchildren.
