Walter J. Jaeckle, 91, of Fairfield died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at Jefferson County Hospital.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lemke Funeral Home, North Chapel, in Clinton. Burial will be in Andover Cemetery. After interment, a dinner will be held at Calvary Lutheran Church in Sabula.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to CARE for Children.

Mr. Jaeckle was born April 14, 1912, in Chicago, Ill., the son of John Henry and Dora LaFrenz Jaeckle. He married Dolores Eggers in October 1940. She died in 1945.

He was a farmer and farmed in Preston, Sabula and Teeds Grove. He had made his home with his daughter and son-in-law in Fairfield for the past seven years.

He was a 32 degree Mason. His pastimes included boating, canoeing, bird watching, playing the ukulele and harmonica and singing. He also was a baseball fan.

Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Lengtat and husband Lother of Fairfield; one son, John A. Jaeckle and wife Marcia of Hortonville, Wis.; and five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and John "Jack" Jaeckle; and one sister, Jean Kurth.
