Margaret Verl COX, 94, of Sylvan Woods Assisted Living in Ottumwa, died at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at Ottumwa Good Samaritan Center.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. Traverce Harrison officiating.
Family visitation will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday before the service at Behner Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or to donor's choice.
Mrs. Cox was born Jan. 20, 1908, in Pleasant Plain, the daughter of Olen V. and Lula MEALEY KLINGAMAN, she married George L. COX Aug. 26, 1927, in Fairfield. He died July 1, 1970.
She lived most of her life in the Fairfield community. She graduated from the Fairfield High School and business college. She was employed in the bookkeeping and accounting department of Iowa State Bank and Trust Company for more than 20 years before her retirement. She moved to Ottumwa in 1992.
She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Order of Eastern Star chapter 39 in Fairfield.
Survivors four grandchildren Kelly Ann COX SCHLIES of Kaukauna, Wis., Mike Lloyd COX of Lees Summit, Mo., Scott John COX of Omaha, Neb., Jayne Elizabeth COX of St. Paul, Minn.; seven great-grandchildren; one niece Margaret STARK GARDNER of Ottumwa; and one nephew Joe STARK of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son Donald Lloyd COX; and one sister, Josephine KLINGAMAN STARK.
