Richard E. RAYMOND

Richard E. RAYMOND, 78, of 610 Lindenwood Court, died at 5:40 a.m. Sunday, March 16, 1977, at Jefferson County Hospital.

A memorial service will be at a later date following cremation. Memorials can be made to the scholarship fund of the Greater Jefferson County Foundation or First Christian Church elevator fund. Raymond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Raymond was born Feb. 18, 1919, in Fairfield, the son of Roy and Bessie CLINKENBEARD RAYMOND. He grew up in Fairfield, graduating in 1936 from Fairfield High School, and in 1947 from Parsons College. He served in the Army-Air Corps during World War II. He married Mary A. SWINK on June 14, 1940, at Warrenton, Mo. He worked for Harper Brush Works in Fairfield prior to moving to Chicago where he worked as office manager for Adjustable Clamp Company for five years. He began working for Louden Machinery Company in 1953, and was with the company for 30 years before retiring as general manager for Acco-Babcock. After retiring, he received his realty broker license and opened Exec Realty in partnership with Gary Smith.

He was a member of First Christian Church where he had served as deacon, elder and trustee; a past exalted ruler of BPO Elks 1192; served on the Harper Brush board of directors; the board of the Greater Jefferson County Foundation; Iowa Realty State Board; and had served on the Jefferson County Hospital board of trustees for 18 years, including five years as chairman. He and his wife installed Lifeline equipment for several years for the Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Douglas R. of Carver, Mass.; one daughter, Deborah S. of Indianapolis; two grandchildren; and one brother, Cyril R. of Fairfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Myrtle KURTZ, and four brothers, Mace, Cedric, Arthur and Jack.
