Mildred Louise TUCKER

Mildred Louise TUCKER, 91, of Richland, died Saturday Aug. 18, 2012, at Halcyon House Care Center in Washington, Iowa, after a lengthy illness.

A funeral is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Richland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carl Benge and the Rev. Dean Elmore officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery.

Visitation is from 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday at Gould Funeral Home in Richland. The family will greet friends 10-11 a.m. Wednesday prior to the service at church.

Memorials may be made to the Halcyon House Activity Fund, Richland United Methodist Church or Richland Friends Cemetery and may be left at the funeral home or church, or mailed to the family at 2540 190th Street, Washington, IA 52353.

Mrs. TUCKER was born April 7, 1921, in Richland the daughter of Arthur Eric and Catherine Elizabeth FOLEY ALLEN. She married Donald F. TUCKER April 22, 1939, in Muscatine. He died July 30, 1989.

She grew up in Richland and graduated from Richland High School in 1938.

She and her husband owned and operated the Richland Café for several years. She also worked for Iowa Southern Utilities Company for more than 40 years, answering phones.

She was a member of the Richland Christian Church, Richland United Methodist Church, and United Methodist Women.

She was the center of her family, keeping everybody connected and providing a gathering place for family members.

Survivors include one son, Ronald and his wife Julie, of Topeka, Kan.; two daughters, Carolyn PIERSON and husband Donald of Lebanon, Mo., and Kathy DAVIS of Washington, Iowa; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Richard, Harold, Robert, James and Raymond ALLEN; two sisters, LaVona DANIELS and Dorothy MIDAUGH; and one grandson.
