Derrikk T. McKim CRAWFORD

Derrikk T. McKim CRAWFORD, 23 of Fairfield and formerly of Hedrick, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, as the result of an auto accident.

Visitation is today at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. Cremation will follow the visitation.

Graveside service and inurnment will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Shaul Cemetery with Rev. Carl Benge officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Mr. CRAWFORD was born June 20, 1989, in Fairfield. He is the son of Rebecca CRAWFORD.

He attended Pekin schools, participating in football, track and cross country.

He had worked for H & H Mold and Tool Company in Fairfield and played football for the Bridge City Knights in Pella.

Survivors include his mother, Rebecca; four brothers, his twin Jordan McKim CRAWFORD, Jack McKim GIBERSON, Aaron CRAWFORD and Austin CRAWFORD; grandparents, Robert and Diane CRAWFORD of Hedrick and Peggy McKIM of Fairfield; and biological parents, Patricia and Jack.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Chet McKIM, Clyde and Pat PERIAN.

State Patrol

Iowa State Patrol reported a fatal crash at 1:05 p.m. Thursday on Highway 92, 7.5 miles west of Oskaloosa in Mahaska County. Derrikk T. CRAWFORD, 23, of Fairfield, was killed in a collision. He was driving a 2005 Jeep Liberty eastbound on Highway 92; he crossed the centerline, colliding head-on with a 2006 Peterbuilt semi-tractor trailer truck traveling westbound, driven by Shane K. Mock, 25, of West Plains, Mo. The truck entered the north ditch where it jackknifed and came to rest. The Jeep was pushed backwards and into the south ditch where it came to rest on its side. CRAWFORD was taken by ambulance to Mahaska County Hospital. In addition to the state patrol, assisting at the accident scene were Mahaska County South Iowa Department of Transportation Enforcement and Maintenance and rural fire.
