BRIGHTON - Steve SHELANGOSKI, 90, longtime resident of the Brighton Community, died Thursday at the New London Care Center in New London.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Gould Funeral Home in Brighton. The Rev. Robert Buscher will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery (note: in Brighton, Washington Co., IA).
Steve SHELANGOSKI was born Aug. 12, 1891, in Jefferson County on a farm south of Brighton. He was the son of Anthony and Constance GLUCH SHELANGOSKI.
He was married April 6, 1920, to Edna HINKLE at Mount Pleasant. She died in 1968.
Shelangoski farmed most of his life in Jefferson County and moved to Mount Pleasant in 1980. Later he moved to the Care Center at New London.
He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the American Legion Post in Fairfield.
Survivors include two sons, Harold and Lyle, both of Mount Pleasant; a daughter, Lucille BURNETT, Newton; three grandchildren; a brother, Bernard, Mount Pleasant and a sister, Agnes SHELANGOSKI, Brighton. He was preceded in death by a number of brothers and sisters.
Memorials may be made to the Polishville Cemetery Association.
